J&B Start A Party Awards

Far from the leafy susburbs and gated communities. In the heart and hub of the city, Thursday night at Turbine Hall in Newtown. J&B hosted their awards for their long running, start a party campaign. Strictly black tie affair. The people of Jozi, came out looking good and ready for a good time.

Firstly I have to sayb that the venue blew me away, i'd heard how this place looked, but it was my first tiime setting foot in it. Huge space, bare wall, high ceilings, giving the place that indutrial warehouse look with plenty of bars for the thirsty masses. Draped in J&B livery the place looked good.

J&B, did a thorough job, the place was decorated immaculately. Food was catered for in the form of mini burgers, mini hot dogs, fish n chips and there was plenty of it all. For me that's always a good sign, plenty of nibles means i get line my stomach, for the drinks that are to follow. J&B, once again, my hat off to you. The drinks were taken care off, with plenty of drinks vouchers given to each guest.

So on to the nights proceedings, guests were well mixed as i said roughly about 350 to 400 guests, but somehow it was as though they were picked on their looks, which, made for lots of head turning action in the trenches.

Music was eclectic at best due to the cosmopolitain nature of the crowd i'd say that was onlly to be expected. with Khenzero and Culoe de Song, each havin a turn on the decks.

what about the awards you ask? Ahemm well about two hours in, Corne and Twakkie, were MC's for the event, they handed out awards, which i got to be honest with you was a bit of a daze to me. then came down to the massses to mingle. At some point someone won R100 000, he was stoked, and to be honest so was the crowd, but i think that had more to do with the flowing whisky and the good treatment.

Even when the official do was ending the barmen kept the whisky flowing, all in all i got to the day job, really needing a strong cup just to get me going. the weekend promises to hold more of the same for us so keep a look out for more drops.
